Things are hard...and they're not going to get easier.

Over the past few weeks, things are becoming abundantly clearer for me. Perhaps some background would be helpful...

I'm 23 years old, engaged, and living with my parents in Texas, working on my masters in Psychology. I have a college degree in Exercise Physiology from a reputable university, but I'm unemployed. I love music, but I'm not musically inclined.

I guess no one ever came right out and said "once you graduate things will get easier," probably my mistake for assuming. If anyone ever says this...they are lying to you. I've struggled with things my entire life, and I don't see them getting easier...if anything they're getting harder. I thought once I was just working life would become more simple.

Maybe it's just been my experience, but being engaged changes everything. Double the stress on your relationship, double the stress with your parents (and if they don't like him you can go ahead and double that again). I'm actually dreading the wedding because I cannot imagine my life becoming more complicated and being able to physically handle the demands.

For me, it comes in waves...and right now my head is just above water. Someday I can only hope I'll be riding the waves. Until then I'll keep paddling.
